Wilkes-Barre, PA --- Vivid Photo, the
winner of this year’s $1.5 million Hambletonian Final, has been named the
2005 Trotter of the Year at Mohegan Sun at
Pocono Downs, and P-Forty-Seven,
the winner of this year’s Little Brown Jug, was chosen as the Northeastern
Pennsylvania racetrack’s 3-Year-Old Pacer of the Year.
This marks the first time in the track’s history that two of the horses honored have won such prestigious races. A Very Nice Horse, who raced throughout the meet at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, was selected as the 2005 Pacer of the Year, Jus’ Chilln Out was named the Mare of the Year, and R T Um Jim was chosen as the track’s Claimer of the Year. Vivid Photo, a 3-year-old S J’s Photo gelding owned by Roger Hammer of Bedford, Penn., and Todd and Christine Schadel of Gratz, Penn., won four of five starts at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, and finished second in the other. One of those wins was a world record 1:541 mile. Hammer drove and trained Vivid Photo, the winner of the 2005 World Trotting Derby, who has won 16 of 21 races this year, and $1,293,083 in that span. |
